Our History
run-done did not grow out of a startup idea. It grew out of accounting: month-end closings, the 18th-of-the-month deadline, several outsourced companies at once. Below is the chronology of how that experience turned into a button that registers invoices on its own.
Two crafts from day one
This story starts with accounting and code at the same time. From 2012 the books and the programming ran in parallel, because explaining to an outside developer what an accountant actually needs did not always land: the point got lost between the brief and the result. It was simpler to write what you understand from the inside yourself.
The roles stacked up
Accountant and programmer, then finance director, then several outsourced companies at once: non-profits, catering, manufacturing, retail. No role replaced the previous one, they stacked on top of each other. Keeping up was possible only because every stage of the work was automated as far as it would go, and each new industry added one more set of processes to understand end to end.
Nobody gets laid off
In all those years of automation not one person was laid off. Even when a workflow is fully covered, the person stays as the controlling link: they carry the responsibility, handle a larger volume and dig into the analysis there was never time for before. The software takes away the routine, not the job.
The core of run-done
Working across different industries showed what the market was missing: a solution that closes a workflow completely rather than halfway. The core was written in 2017 and has been running in live accounting every day since. This is not a prototype or a demo: years in production have stripped out everything that used to break on deadlines.
The legal shell
On 24 May 2024 DISPLAY POWER LTD was incorporated in London, company number 15740058. There is no product yet. There is a company under which run-done will appear a year and a half later.
The name
The run-done.com domain was registered on 23 December 2025. The name states the promise literally: you run it > it is done. No dashboard to keep watch over.
Measurement instead of guesswork
We exported the event log from a live 1C database: 10,553 events on the tax-invoice workflow over four months. Two findings reshaped the product. Hands-on work in 1C is about 6 hours a month, so there is almost no time left to save. And 98% of the invoices are made by one person: 4,731 events out of 4,827. The client's problem is not speed. It is that the whole process rests on a single person.
One binary
Site, agent, signing, mail and analytics were pulled into a single Rust project. One binary, one deploy, no layer you can forget to update before a deadline.
The middleman is gone
Tax invoices and adjustment calculations are registered in the state register straight from the 1C interface, with one button. No separate program, no hand-carrying XML between systems, no subscription to a middleman. The accountant stays inside their own 1C: the process does not change and there is no new software to learn.
The signature is on us
The whole path from an invoice in 1C to the receipt from the register is held by us. That makes the deadlines our responsibility rather than some vendor's: when something does not go through, you call us instead of waiting for a third party to ship an update.
Your keys stay with you
The first question every client asks is whether we will be holding their qualified signature key. The answer is built into the architecture: we will not. The key never leaves the client's machine, and we store neither keys nor documents. Anything else and this service would have no right to exist.
Tools instead of brochures
Instead of marketing pages we published working tools: a penalty calculator for article 120-1 of the Tax Code, a calendar of registration deadlines, a field-by-field walkthrough of a tax invoice. Open, no sign-up, useful even if you never become a client.
Invoices register themselves
run-done runs every day in a live production setup: invoices go to the register, statuses are visible, receipts are collected without a human. The products are born where our own pain meets the client's need, which is why they remove the headache accounting has been putting up with for decades. The next steps are the same thing, wider: sole-trader reporting and document exchange behind the same button.
